One-of-a-kind altered antique book junk journal created from an old copy of Melody by Laura E. Richards.
I fell in love with the original cover of this beautiful old book and decided to give it an entirely new life as a handmade junk journal. The book bears an 1893 copyright date; because I could not find a separate reprint date in this copy, I cannot confirm its exact printing year.
I rebuilt the book from the inside out while preserving its wonderful original cover and incorporating pieces of the original book into the finished journal.
Open the front cover and you'll find an insert featuring the original title page from Melody. The first page showcases the beautiful original illustration of Melody, paired with a metal nameplate bearing her name.
Inside are 156 pages and pocket pages filled with layers, textures and plenty of room for writing, photos, keepsakes and your own additions.

The sari silk closure is intentionally left unattached, so it can be repositioned as the journal grows. There is room to add your own photographs, notes, memorabilia, ephemera and other treasures without being restricted by a permanently attached closure.
This journal combines antique and vintage elements with newer papers and embellishments. Because an antique book was used as its foundation, signs of age and imperfections are part of its history and character rather than flaws.
